This Italian builder of quality performance yachts has announced a new model in its latest range of long-distance cruisers. The design is intended to maximise on three key aspects – space, elegance and safety. The former is provided in abundance in a standard layout with three en suite cabins, plus provision for a crew cabin right forward and a tender garage aft. In addition, there’s a day head that can be converted to a fourth cabin on request. There’s also a giant full-width saloon, open plan onto a comprehensive galley – one of the best in its class.

Two options are offered for the owner’s cabin, which occupies the entire accommodation between the mast and the sail locker or crew cabin right forward. The standard arrangement has a peninsula bed arranged on the centreline, but the berth can be positioned against the side of the hull to allow more floor space, as well as a larger en suite heads compartment.

The exterior styling of this aft-cockpit boat is unashamedly contemporary, with a long dynamic waterline, plumb bow, short bowsprit and composite mainsheet arch. Four hull windows each side help to flood the interior with light, while there’s acres of flat teak decks.

Sail controls are taken right aft to a superyacht style crew cockpit at the back of the boat, where the winches are within easy reach of the twin wheels. Forward of this is a civilised guest cockpit. Right aft a fold-down bathing platform offers easy access to the sea for swimming and opens up the tender garage below the cockpit.

A shoal draught keel that allows the boat to float in only 2.1m is offered as an option. There’s also a choice of two engines – a standard 75hp diesel, or 110hp unit. Tankage is of an impressive size, enabling the boat to operate long distances in comfort. The first 52LC (the LC denotes ‘Long Cruise’) is scheduled for completion in spring 2017.
