This northern Adriatic destination is one of the easiest to reach both by air and road from many central and north European cities. Located in the Bay of Muggia, on the south side of the Gulf of Trieste and near the border with Slovenia, the marina is just 30 miles from Trieste airport and 45 miles from Ljubljana airport in Slovenia.

Run by Camper and Nicholson’s Marinas, this is a magical five-star gateway to the excellent sailing grounds of the northern Adriatic. The city of Venice, the Slovenian coastline and Croatia’s spectacular Kornati islands and National Park all within easy reach.

The marina offers more than 500 full-service berths for deep draught yachts of up to 60m in length. The port is well protected by substantial breakwaters, through which there is a 50-metre wide access channel. On shore facilities include a yacht club, restaurant, bakery and retail centre, plus a swimming pool, hotel and fitness centre. There’s also an Italian Border Police Office on site.

Just half a mile away from the marina is the excellent boat yard facilities of Cantieri Navali San Rocco. These include more than 40,000 square metres of outside area and 4,000 square metres of shed space. For hauling out the yard is equipped with a 160 tonne travel lift and a 22 tonne crane, as well as 60 and 120 tonne boat movers.

The yard is hugely experienced in the refitting, storage, maintenance, and repair of all types of yacht.

In the immediate area the town of Muggia retains distinct characteristics of Venetian culture, including dialect and gastronomic traditions. The architecture includes a fourteenth century castle, an enchanting old town and many buildings of Gothic-Venetian style, as well as an authentic Venetian main square. There’s also a vibrant carnival that’s repeated with summer editions in July and August.
