On the occasion of its 37th edition, what was known as the Festival de la Plaisance Cannes is changing its name to the Cannes Yachting Festival. This new identity conserves the very essence of the Festival and confirms the unique place it holds as a major international boat industry event.

Sylvie Ernoult, Festival Manager, explains the change by “a wish on the part of the owners and organisers to express the increasingly international positioning of the Festival, a major gathering bringing together yacht lovers and industry professionals.”
Europe’s leading in-water boat show, the Cannes Yachting Festival will be open from 9 – 14 September 2014 and plans to present 550 yachts and welcome 50,000 visitors.
Last year’s show, which took place between 10th and 15th September on the bay of Cannes, was declared a resounding success by exhibitors, visitors and the managing companies of the show, the Federation des industries nautiques (FIN) and Reed Expositions. It featured over 550 boats on display from the world’s leading shipyards and 150 world premiere editions for all to enjoy.

Spread across the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto Brokerage & Charter area, the Cannes Yachting Festival welcomed a total of close to 50,000 visitors across the six days, a 7 per cent increase on 2012. The event further enhanced its reputation as the most international boat show, when it confirmed that around 50 per cent of attendees came from all five continents.
Highly regarded by the international yachting industry, the Cannes Yachting Festival plans to continue offering its guests an accurate snapshot of the latest yachting innovations, across sectors including design, machine parts, marinas, on board electronics and equipment. This has always included sea trials, as well as a chance to truly experience the range of yachts on display in an open-water environment.
The Multihull area also saw an important evolution with a 20% increase in the number of sail and motor yachts. No doubt this will continue in 2014, as the interest in multihulls due to their inherent stability and performance continues to rise globally, and particularly in France where many innovative catamaran, and trimaran concepts have been developed.
